Zipping Up For One Last Time...
My journey started with a simple post about a simple anime featuring a bear kigurumi. We then expanded our sights to more anime featuring kigurumi onesies. Slowly but surely, we were moving towards the discussion of some of the more core topics of kigurumi onesies themselves. We even showcased a few notable figures and some online personalities, each with their personal flair for the kigurumi onesie they chose to wear.
But alas, that journey has come to a close. This will be my final post for the blog, but before I leave and prepare for my successor, I want to at least highlight some of my favorite discussions throughout the years.
Yuru Yuriâs Complete Kigurumi Onesie Ensemble

It has always been a challenge to feature anime with kigurumi onesies. For one thing, you canât really search them up online. It is never something that is explicitly noted by its audience, unless it is something as blatant as Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear.
As such, you need to either know these from the very beginning, or accidentally come across them during your seasonal anime viewing runs. Sure, you can more or less gauge whether a series MIGHT feature a kigurumi. But you still wonât be able to pinpoint exactly which episode, and which scene. If you feel like an anime will feature a kigurumi onesie, then you have to watch each and every episode.
This is why, my favorite anime kigurumi onesie blog post will always be my two posts about Yuri Yuri. It was such a dedicated niche of series that the original author and anime writers were compelled to bring them back in season two. Each character got a signature kigurumi onesie of their own, and even got their moments specifically making use of their onesie choices. In fact, this was the very point that we launched our philosophical discussion about plant-based kigurumi onesies.
Never change, Toshinou Kyouko. Never change.
Looking More Into Kigurumi Onesie Themes

My next favorites were my first knee-deep dives into specific kigurumi themes. In particular, my discussions about the popularity of bear kigurumi in multimedia references, the mysterious choice of blue versus black for penguin kigurumi onesies, and why cats still remain as the de facto basic choice when characters wear their first kigurumi.
It was indeed quite mysterious, at least at a glance, why bear was usually the established choice for kigurumi onesies. But then it dawned on me pretty immediately that bears are kinda the middle point between the onesie-type kigurumi, and the mascot-type kigurumi. Plus, bears themselves have a profile and bipedal stature that can be very similar to humans. I can imagine producers wanting the body profile of a gorilla, but preferring something that is so much cuter. Hence, bear kigurumi onesies everywhere.
On the other hand, we never really did solve the case of the blue penguin kigurumi onesies, did we? The concluding speculation was that it came from a very old mascot, which was then handed down to many other similar incarnations in various media, including video games. This was never definitively confirmed, however, though at least it sounded plausible enough that we were satisfied with our final observation.
For cat kigurumi onesies, is there even anything that would be remotely complex to discuss? Everyone loves cats, cats are everywhere, and cats come in all color combinations. Theyâre the perfect testing grounds for new kigurumi onesie designs. You donât even have to limit yourself to realistic combinations. Dreamy and cosmic combinations for cats are very much welcome.
Answering the Age-Old Kigurumi Onesie Question

Lastly, my favorite is the blog that asked if kigurumi onesies are essentially cosplay. Spoiler alert: yes, they definitely are! Well, classification-wise, they are a form of cosplay. It doesnât matter if it is unique to you (but generic as a product), or is actually representing an anime character who wore a kigurumi onesie.
We also dipped our toes into the confusion surrounding which types of costumes are regarded as kigurumi, because those also muddy the waters somewhat. But at the end of the day, the ultimate goal is still comfort with style. If you cannot lounge around and get lazy with your loose âcosplay,â then is it really worth choosing kigurumi onesies over anything else?
Besides, it is hardly just a personal choice anymore. Many people often opt to wear kigurumi onesies because their entire friend group plans to wear one. Entire families can visit parks wearing the same theme or the same team! If it is something as universal as Pokemon, then you have essentially embodied the specific character (species) represented by that product. A cosplay in its own right!
And thatâs it, folks! I apologize to end on such an abrupt note, but as a certain play says, all good things must come to an end. It was my honor to show you everyone the wonderful world of kigurumi onesies. Every piece of media dug up, every curious question answered, every celebrity featured, and every theme explored. The journey from here to there was well worth it.
May the next passionate kigurumi onesie blogger give you even more revolutionary insights about this wonderful, cozy world!
See you, out there!
